Exercises to improve circulation when sitting.

Knees

Forget the fact that this may look a little odd in the middle of the office, or just take yourself off somewhere quiet for a few minutes. Tense your quadriceps (the large muscle in front of your thigh), bend your knee and lift your leg about 12 inches off the floor. Do this 20 times with each leg and if you can, stretch your knee all the way up to your chest for 15 seconds before releasing it.

Ankles

The ankle exercises are a little simpler and can easily be performed at your desk, in the car or when flying.

Simply rotate your ankles for 30 seconds in a clockwise direction, then repeat this in an anticlockwise direction for a further 30 seconds

Feet

Feet exercises are a good way to keep the blood flowing through the whole leg, and the exercises are easy to do at the desk or whilst traveling.

Whilst seated, simply place your weight on your toes then lift your heels up, holding the position for 3 seconds before placing your feet flat to the floor.

Then, keep your heels on the floor and point your toes towards the sky. Do this ten times with each foot

Compression socks are great for improving circulation and alleviating the symptoms of poor blood flow through the legs and feet.

Coupled with the right diet and some simple exercises that you can do at work or whilst traveling, you could quickly and easily see the health benefits that come from an improvement to your circulation.
